Content sites are extremely popular. They’re quite a bit easier to use than webcam sites and you don’t have to be live to make money – although of course, you can go Live on some of these sites if you want too. We see many new to the industry models start on these sites. The main downside you will see throughout, is that unlike webcam modelling, you do have to try and gain your own clients. That said, content modelling is still a very valid, lucrative section of our industry. To be an adult content creator, you must be:-

-
Over the age of eighteen, with a valid photographic ID.
-
Confident and engaging.
-
Know how to film and photograph content.
-
Have free hours during the week where you can create content, post content and engage to your subscribers. On top of this, you will need to have free hours to market yourself.
What content sites are available to work on?
There are many sites you can work on, both in the UK and globally. In this section, we are going to take a deep dive into the content sites available – and to people’s surprise, OnlyFans is NOT the only site available to post content.
Here are some of the content sites you can work with:

Now, let’s step into the Pros and Cons of the sites.

Pros of using Only Fans
-
Content sites and particularly Only Fans, is very flexible. It isn’t a passive income, but you don’t have to work set hours and you can easily work these sites around other jobs. You can batch create content for some of the week, and then post periodically throughout the week instead of having to be live.
-
London-based Only Fans has 350 million regular members. That’s a lot of potential customers! However, there are some downsides to this which are explained further on.
-
There is a huge opportunity to niche down and make money. The nicher you are, the easier it is to make money on Only Fans now. A great example of this, is a model we used to have signed to Black Panther Models. Her main site was Only Fans and she specialized in balloon fetish – known as “looners”. She made a lot of money specifically creating content for that very niche market.
-
Only Fans only take 20% which is actually very competitive for models compared to the high fees which are widely seen across webcam sites.
-
Marketing for Only Fans is relatively easy to learn, even if it will be a new skill for you. We cover this further on in the course.
-
Only Fans is VERY easy to navigate. It’s much easier than navigating webcam modelling sites and the easiest of the content sites to navigate. We give it 10/10 for being user friendly.
-
One of the biggest upsides of Only Fans is the brand building opportunities and business opportunities that are available on there. We would venture to say that if you wanted to go onto being a big name on the industry, this is the site you would use. So many Only Fans creators go onto be published in magazines, get lucrative porn contracts and do awesome collaborations with other big creators. Out of all the sites, Only Fans is quite the land of opportunity.
-
Like webcam sites, Only Fans is free at the point of entry. There really is nothing to lose by trying.
-
Subscription church on OnlyFans is a key component of your income. Subscription church is the percentage of customers who cancel their subscription within a given period. Whilst subscription church can contribute to a fluctuating income, it’s a very handy, key metric because it can reveal how well you retain customers that isn’t available in the same form to creators on other sites.
Cons of using Only Fans
-
Another benefit of webcam sites is that you don’t have to advertise off site. On pretty much every content site, you will need to advertise off the site. Customers won’t just come to you. This means setting up and knowing how to utilise social media to push your account and subscriptions. This isn’t always easy for a beginner.
-
Only Fans is very saturated and it can be hard to gain traction as a smaller creator. It began in 2016 and had a massive peak during lockdown and the ensuing years. It capitalised on building a new type of subscription service, not seen in the industry before. They have over 3.5 million content creators and that is A LOT of competition.
-
A second con to Only Fans (and unfortunately to how popular it is) is that it is a much harder to stay anonymous on and the demand to see your face will be much higher. Being a “faceless” model is much more common place and accepted on webcam sites. Even if you try and be careful with your anonymity, this site does require you to market your brand off-site meaning there is more risk of someone you know potentially recognising you.
-
Lastly to this, there is also a higher risk of content piracy than any other sites and content piracy can happen in a number of ways. I’ll give the example of the OF creator, Cloudy. One of her subscribers decided she was not answering her DMs fast enough. So, in retaliation, he decided to indulge in piracy and exasperate OnlyFans issues by posting her stolen OnlyFans content on several sites free of charge. This is a very real issue on OnlyFans and we see it happen all the time.
-
The income you get from OnlyFans can be unpredictable and a lot of this is driven by subscription churn. Subscription churn is the percentage of customers who cancel their subscription within a given period. Subscription churn can be extremely variable, even if you’re doing everything right making the income you may receive variable too – some months it may be £50, others it might be £500.
-
OnlyFans can be a lot of work to get off the ground. You have to batch create content, build your clientele and build an online presence. Unlike camming, a lot more goes on behind the scenes of OnlyFans.
-
Like with most adult sites, there is usually an additional fee to get paid. You can get paid on OnlyFans via Paxum, COSMO and bank transfer but there are usually additional fees attached to each one. Like with webcamming, it is also usually quite difficult to get paid to a standard UK bank account as it’s (usually) in their terms and conditions that they don’t accept adult industry payments.
-
Only Fans is linked to many celebrities, including Katie Price, Kerry Katona, Cardi B, Denise Richards and Amber Rose. This is a popular option for both fans and celebrities as it offers a unique direct-to-fan relationship you wouldn’t usually get. Conversely, this can be quite a con to the normal person who won’t have a ready made fan base to get started with like a celebrity would and it can be hard to compete against an already well-known personal brand.

Pros of using Fansly

-
Fansly is subscription based like with OF but tiered content. Think of them as customizable levels of access: basic, mid-level and VIP – each with perks and price points that make sense for how you run your content. For example, your basic tier maybe risqué outfits, lingerie photos and low-level NSFW (not suitable for work) content. Your middle tier may be some nudity and more complicated content like fetishes. Your top tier may be full nudity and full fetish friendly.
-
Fansly is much less saturated for models than it is for OnlyFans, naturally making for less competition. Whereas OnlyFans has an approximately 3.5-4 million content creators, whereas Fansly has 2 million.
-
Like with OnlyFans, Fansly is a more passive way of earning money, however, it isn’t a totally passive income, but you don’t have to work set hours or be live and you can easily work these sites around other jobs. You can batch create content for some of the week, and then post periodically throughout the week instead of having to be live.
-
Regardless that Fansly is a smaller site, it still has 130 million regular members which is an impressive amount.
-
There is a huge opportunity to niche down and Fansly only take 20% which is actually very competitive for models, when webcam sites tend to have higher fees attached to them. make money. Probably more so than Only Fans, because there is less competition.
-
Like with Only Fans, the marketing to get your Fansly account up and running, isn’t hard and we do cover this later on in the course.
-
Most content sites aren’t easy to stay anonymous on because of the need to advertise off-site, however Fansly is one of the easier sites to stay anonymous on and there is less risk of content piracy. There is also less of an expectation to show your face, unlike OnlyFans.
-
One of our favourite benefits of Fansly is there are several ways to make money from pay-per-view content to tips to locked content and subscriptions.

Before we discuss Patreon, we want to point out that *IT IS NOT CLASSED AS AN ADULT SITE*. But, we’ve given Patreon a much deserved honourable mention because they’re an amazing option for non-nude and anonymous models because it is a subscription site without the pressure to take it to full explicit content.
Pros of using Patreon
-
The thing we love the most about Patreon is that it is an awesome platform for non-nude models and models who don’t show their faces, This is because it is a creative based site, not an adult site. This means you can have the best of both worlds and be a minimally spicy, anonymous creator with an audience that is tailor made for just that.
-
Patreon serves a diverse creator base, including musicians, podcasters, educators, writers, and visual artists. It’s a very lively, friendly and creative community that has been built on this site.
-
Patreon has various beneficial tools for creators to interact with their fans and deliver content effectively, such as private messages and integrated services like Discord.
-
Patreon is a community based platform that focuses on building long-term relationships between creators and their audiences.
-
With Patreon not being an adult site, their fees reflect this. Patreon fees are only between 5-12%, which is the best of all the sites.
-
Like Fansly, Patreon offers tiered memberships where creators can provide varying levels of exclusive content to subscribers.
-
The main rule on Patreon is you can’t touch yourself or anyone else – perfect for models who have stronger boundaries and aren’t comfortable with activities like pussy play. The best type of more adult style account on Patreon often has a lot of beautiful boudoir shots and lingerie.
-
Patreon allow you to post links to other sites, which is beneficial for adult models who have other sites where their main income is. You can’t post a “spicy” link – e.g., Only Fans or a cam link BUT you can post your social media link such as Instagram and TikTok where you can advertise your content/services. You can do this whilst getting paid for non-explicit photos.
-
Patreon is great for the artistic / creative type of person. This is because the rules specifically on there are: “Allows some forms of nudity but prohibits explicit adult content, maintaining a focus on artistic and educational material.” A focus on creation, education and community is key on Patreon.
Cons of using Patreon
-
If you want to go as far as becoming a full adult star, maybe working in porn and webcam modelling, this is not the site for you. We’ve given it an honourable mention for models who are looking for less explicit work, but if this is where you see your career headed, this is not the site you would really use to promote on.
-
The customer service on Patreon is notoriously not good especially when it comes to late payments. They often take a long time to reply, even when payments are incorrect and they aren’t always known to be very customer centric or friendly.
-
As you’ve probably gathered by now, all subscription based content sites have the issue of subscription churn and having a varied income due to subscribing/unsubscribing.
-
Like Only Fans, Patreon can be very celebrity dominated. Patreon is a popular option for both fans and celebrities as it offers a unique direct-to-fan relationship you wouldn’t usually get. Conversely, this can be quite a con to the normal person who won’t have a readymade fan base to get started with like a celebrity would and it can be hard to compete against an already well-known personal brand.
-
Additionally, like OnlyFans, Patreon does have a much lower success rate for smaller creators. It can be a saturated site, not just because of celebrities but famous artists, bloggers and creatives who also regularly use the platform for subscription services.
-
As mentioned, Patreon is not an adult industry based site, and this means it doesn’t necessarily offer all the great features that adult webcam and content sites have to offer. On Patreon, you can only get paid via subscriptions which can be very limited.
